There are two different “seasons” in Black Desert
These are two separate systems. Nearly every misunderstanding on the server comes from treating them as one. We run both, and they do not depend on each other:
| 1 · Season character + season server | 2 · Season event + season pass |
|---|---|
| Belongs to one character, and tied to a channel. Covers: creating a season character, who may enter which channel, Naru → Tuvala gear, Fughar’s Timepiece, and graduation. |
A timed event that comes with a Season Pass (the Black Spirit Pass), which pays out
extra loot for completing objectives. Nothing to do with which character or channel you are on. |
| One per Family. Created on the season channel only. | Owned by your Family. Works on both channels. |
Season characters & the season server
The two channels
We run two channels on the Elysia world. They share the same characters, storage and Family — you pick one at Server Change. Both run the same rates; Abyss Desert is not faster or slower.
| Channel | Type | Who can enter |
|---|---|---|
| Black Desert | Season | Season characters only |
| Abyss Desert | Normal | Everyone — season and normal characters |

Your season character
You may have one season character per Family, and season characters can only be created on the season channel. A season character keeps its season perks everywhere — including on Abyss Desert. Normal characters never get season perks, Tuvala gear or Time-filled Black Stones on either channel.

Graduation & Fughar’s Timepiece — step by step
Once your season character reaches Lv. 25, Fughar opens the path that lets you either move your season slot to another character or graduate. Fughar stands in every major city — in practice, look near the stables.
Step 1 · Talk to Fughar at Lv. 25+
On your season character, speak to Fughar. He starts the graduation line and sends you on to Leyla of the Crow Merchants Guild.
Step 2 · Go see Leyla

Step 3 · Back to Fughar
Return to Fughar to finish that first stage. His quest list then carries the graduation quest [Season Server Graduation] Into the Big Wide World, alongside the Tuvala enhancement quests.

Step 4 · Take the quest and get your certificate
Completing that quest hands you the Honorable Adventurer’s Certificate. From here the path forks — and the two options block each other.

Step 5 · Pick your path
| Fughar’s Timepiece | Honorable Adventurer’s Certificate |
|---|---|
| Moves your season slot to a different character. The target becomes your season character and the level carries across. Your old character becomes normal. | Graduates your season character into a permanent normal character, and gives Tuvala Gear Conversion Stones so the gear stays usable. |
| Season character Lv. 25+, target is a normal character Lv. 25 or below, all gear unequipped. Once per Family. | Requires every Season Pass challenge completed and its rewards claimed. |
This is not a mistake on your side and you are not stuck for good — staff can grant you another ticket. Just ask in #bdo-general with your family name, and log out to character select and back in after it is granted.
Season events & the Season Pass
The Season Pass (Black Spirit Pass)
A season event runs for a set period and comes with a Season Pass. The pass adds a second, premium reward track alongside the free one. You complete the objectives in the order they appear, and each reward can be claimed once per Family.

The pass is owned by your Family, so it follows you onto either channel, and our event bonuses run on both channels. Unclaimed Black Spirit Pass rewards disappear when the season ends, so claim them as you go.
Things that trip people up
“I used the Timepiece and now I cannot make another season character”
Nothing was lost. The Timepiece moves your season slot rather than spending it — the character you transferred to is your season character now. You cannot create a brand new one because the limit is one season character per Family, and you already have one.
“Do I need a season character to join a season event?”
No. Those are two separate systems. The Season Pass belongs to your Family and the event bonuses run on both channels, so a normal character on Abyss Desert takes part just the same.
“Where is the simplified questline? There was no option in Velia”
You were in the right town — it starts with Alustin in Velia, who gives [Special Growth] Birth of a Prestigious Family. Take the Simplified option when the Select Quest window appears. From there the chain runs through your Black Spirit as [Special Growth] Fughar’s Memorandum, starting at Lv. 20+ on a season character. Finishing it counts as completing both the Calpheon and Mediah main questlines — but once you do, you can no longer run the normal main questline up to Mediah. It is one path or the other.
“Fughar has no exchange option for my gear”
The exchange only appears when the gear is in your inventory, not while it is equipped. See the Gear Guide for the full Naru → Tuvala path.
“Can I have two season characters?”
No — one per Family at a time. Season characters can also be played on Abyss Desert, so you are never locked to one channel.
