Gear Guide

Naru → Tuvala — the season gear path

On a season character you start in Naru gear and trade it up to Tuvala, which is far stronger and can be enhanced to much higher levels. This is the fastest way to a geared character on Deadly Crusaders, and it costs almost no silver — just enhancement stones.

Read this first — it trips up nearly everyone.
Our server is an earlier Black Desert build than most guides you will find online. There is no “Convert” button in the Enhancement window here. You trade gear to an NPC named Fughar instead. If you are following a YouTube guide and cannot find the Convert button, nothing is broken — you are just on a build that predates it.

Step 1 · Make sure you are on a season character

Naru and Tuvala are season-only items. A normal character cannot equip or exchange them. Create a season character at character select. Season characters may only equip Naru gear, Tuvala gear, life-skill gear, and certain quest-reward gear.

Step 2 · Get your Naru gear

Most Naru pieces come from the early season questline. You can also buy pieces directly from Fughar — which is the quickest way to replace something you are missing:

GiveReceive
Beginner Black Stone (Armor) ×1Naru Gloves ×1
Beginner Black Stone (Armor) ×1Naru Shoes ×1

Step 3 · Enhance Naru to PEN (V)

Open the Enhancement window and take each piece all the way to PEN (V) — that is the maximum for Naru and the requirement for trading it in.

  1. Use Beginner Black Stone (Weapon) on weapons, Beginner Black Stone (Armor) on armor.
  2. Naru enhancement is heavily assisted — failures are forgiving compared to normal gear.
  3. Once a piece hits PEN (V) it can no longer be enhanced. The Enhance button greying out is correct, not a bug — that piece is finished and ready to trade.

Step 4 · Trade PEN Naru to Fughar for Tuvala

⚠ The gear must be in your INVENTORY, not equipped.
Fughar’s exchange list only shows an entry when the matching piece is sitting in your bag. If you walk up to him wearing your PEN Naru gear, the trade simply will not appear — and it looks exactly like you have not unlocked it yet. Un-equip everything into your inventory first.

Fughar is the Chief Manager of the Crow Merchants Guild and stands in every major city. Talk to him and choose the item exchange:

PEN (V) Naru HelmetTuvala Helmet
PEN (V) Naru ArmorTuvala Armor
PEN (V) Naru GlovesTuvala Gloves
PEN (V) Naru ShoesTuvala Shoes
PEN (V) Naru TalismanPRI (I) Tuvala Sub-weapon Box

Note that armor pieces convert straight across, while the weapon slot gives you a box you open to choose the sub-weapon for your class.

Step 5 · Enhance your Tuvala gear

Tuvala uses a different stone: Time-filled Black Stone. Tuvala can be enhanced well beyond PEN, and only on season characters.

Use Cron Stones on higher attempts to protect against enhancement loss.

Where to farm the materials

Fughar takes several seasonal drops in trade. These are the intended sources — you should not need to grind endlessly for stones:

GiveReceive
Fughar’s Lost Crystal Shard ×1Time-filled Black Stone ×10
Ouk Pill of Rift ×10Time-filled Black Stone Bundle
Ouk Pill of Rift ×20Tuvala Ore Bundle
Ouk Pill of Rift ×20Refined Magical Black Stone Bundle
Season coins ×30Advice of Valks (+10)
Season coins ×40Valks’ Cry
Season coins ×100Advice of Valks (+20)

Tuvala Ore drops from monsters at:

  1. Bashim Base
  2. Gahaz Bandit’s Lair
  3. Desert Naga Temple
  4. Titium Valley
  5. Crescent Shrine
  6. Polly’s Forest
  7. Fadus Habitat

Troubleshooting

Fughar is not offering me the Tuvala exchange

Two causes, in order of likelihood. One: your gear is still equipped — move it into your inventory and talk to him again. Two: the exchange requires the Mediah main quest “Apocalyptic Prophecy” (or “[Season] Fughar’s Memorandum – Chapter 8”) to be complete.

I cannot find the Convert button in the Enhancement window

There is not one on this build. Use Fughar — see Step 4. Guides showing a Convert button are written for a newer version of the game.

My PEN gear will not go back into the Enhancement window

That is expected. PEN (V) is the maximum for Naru, so it cannot be enhanced further. Take it to Fughar.

A “Tuvala Gear Conversion Stone” sounds like what I want

It is the opposite. That stone converts Tuvala gear so a non-season character can wear it — used when graduating a season character, not for getting Tuvala in the first place.
