How to report a bug so it actually gets fixed

Good bug reports get fixed. Vague ones sit there while someone tries to guess what you meant. This is what makes the difference.

Put the thing in the title.
Name the quest, spell, item, NPC or zone. "Main story quest will not advance" is findable. "help pls" is not, and it means five people open five threads about the same problem.

One issue per thread.
If you found three unrelated things, that is three threads. It keeps replies attached to the right problem.

Tell us these five things:
  1. Which server - post in that game's Help & Support section.
  2. Character name - so we can look at the actual character rather than a hypothetical one.
  3. What you did - the steps, in order, from something we can start at. "Took the quest from the NPC in town, killed the mobs, went back" beats "did the quest".
  4. What happened, and what you expected instead. Both halves matter. Plenty of things look broken but are working as the server intends, and plenty of real bugs look like normal behaviour until you say what should have happened.
  5. When - roughly. Something that started this morning is a different problem from something that has never worked.
Extras that help a lot:
  • A screenshot, especially of an error message or a stuck quest window. Screenshots & Media is fine for the image; link it from your report.
  • Whether it happens every time or only sometimes. Intermittent problems are worth saying so.
  • Whether anyone else saw it.
  • For anywhere you get stuck in the world or fall through the ground: roughly where. A zone name and a landmark is plenty.
Do not post exploits publicly.
If you find something that duplicates items, skips content, or hands out rewards it should not, message a staff member instead of posting it. Reporting it is never punished. Quietly using it is.

What happens next.
Not every report gets a reply the same day, and some sit for a while - a fix might depend on something bigger being worked on. If it goes quiet for a week and you still see the problem, bump the thread. When something you reported gets fixed, it will show up in that game's section along with the other update posts.
